Sid Mashburn: Elevating Black Tie Attire with American Craftsmanship

Discover the Exquisite Tuxedos and Accessories from Sid Mashburn and Your Search is Over for Unforgettable Formal Occasions

“So for YOUR upcoming weddings… if I were in your shoes? I'd say the classic peak-lapel tuxedo in black, the pique front shirt, the silk faille bow tie, black silk knot cufflinks, and because of the seasonality, the black Chelseas. If boots feel too out-there for you, go with some lace-ups and you'll still be one of the best dressed guys in the room. And the beauty of black tie is that you can wear the exact same thing to the next wedding… and the one after that… and so on…”

When it comes to searching for a tuxedo, it's usually a significant occasion. Black tie attire always stands out, and while I personally recommend dark blue, black is the traditional choice. It's important to note that black tie is different from white tie. In the US, we have more relaxed rules for both, but it's still a good idea to ask questions and understand the dress code.

It's made of a really beautiful wool mohair from England that sets it apart from all the ghosts of rentals past... the kind of tux you'll get excited about wearing. And just like all of our tailored clothing, it's designed to take you to black-tie events in Mississippi, Manhattan, and Milan without looking or feeling out of place.”

Sid Mashburn gets my vote! Coming from the world of Ralph Lauren, Burberry and then the rules of Savile Row, with Gieves & Hawkes I understand the possible difficulties guys face when they have the need or requirement to wear black tie. I agree with Sid here, everyone should own a classic tuxedo - your only issue is to keep fit! But not to worry, these options are meant to last with full canvas makes and if you want one made just for you with how you like any adjustments (or loose spots vs tight spots) you can jump into a Mashburn store and have one made to measure (just leave 10-12 weeks for turn around)

My choice, The Kincaide No. 3 in Navy. For me, always a Navy tuxedo, black is specific for other “events” you can do the math here. As an American we like no rules, so if you wish to blend in you can’t go wrong with any of these classic and timeliness options!

The Kincaid No. 3 Peak Lapel Tuxedo in Navy Wool Mohair with Silk Grosgrain is a black-tie tuxedo featuring peak lapels, a shorter and darted body, and slim-cut trousers with a grosgrain stripe. It is crafted with high-quality wool mohair sourced from England, ensuring a perfect fit. Sid Mashburn also provides a made-to-measure service for tuxedos, offering fully canvased jackets and well-fitted trousers. Their careful curation and attention to detail make them the go-to brand for anyone seeking a stylish and well-fitting tuxedo.

Investing in a tuxedo is worthwhile. Just like in the movie "Father of the Bride" where Steve Martin's character struggles with his first tuxedo fitting, the right fit and fabric can make all the difference. The knowledgeable staff at Sid Mashburn can assist you in finding the perfect tuxedo.
